About Us

Nick

Nick now focusses on trail and ultra running but has previously been involved in lacrosse, triathlon and road running. Originally completing a degree in Human Movement (Exercise & Sports Science) and Education he spent many years as a Health & Physical Education teacher, before starting as a running coach and founding The Ultra Journey.  He is a IAAF Level 4 Run Coach and ‘Coach to the Coaches’, ASCA Level 1 Strength & Conditioning Coach. He has been published in Trail Runner Magazine and is the host of ’Nick’s Running Adventures’.

Nick is the author of ‘Journey to 100’, ‘Journey to Kona’ and ‘Run Fit’ and has coached hundreds of runners (From/ Mid and Back of pack and juniors) to develop a love of running and finish with a smile. This has resulted in countless runners finishing their first marathon, 50k and 100k ultra as well as 40+ podium finishes.
His next adventure is starting ’The Run Shop’ to spread his love of running and building a supportive community of runners dedicated to health and wellness.

Personal sporting highlights include:

  • Representing Australia at the Trail & Ultra World Championships in Thailand
  • Yurrebilla Ultra finishing 2nd in 4 hours 51 minutes
  • Melbourne Ironman 9 hours 10 minutes
  • Completing the Hawaii Ironman
  • Hobart Marathon finish 4th in 2 hour 45 minutes
  • Surf Coast Century 100k Ultra in 9 hours 18 minutes (4th Australian Long Course Trail Championships)
  • State Trail & Ultra Running Champion
  • 2x Best and Fairest for Burnside Lacrosse Club
  • Representing SA in Lacrosse
  • Over 10 years on the West Lakes Triathlon Club Committee and inducted as a life member in 2024

Amber

Amber grew up playing club level sports (netball and softball) before taking on short course running and finding her spark as a triathlete, where she enjoyed the run leg the most out of the three disciplines. Amber now focusses on running and is aiming to get back into triathlon after recently starting a family. She is a qualified ASCA level 1 Strength and Conditioning coach, Personal Trainer, Triathlon Coach and Athletics SA Run Coach, CHEK holistic life Coach, Hatha Yoga Teacher, and holds a Bachelor of Education, currently working as the Curriculum Manager of Health and Physical Education for the Department for Education in SA.

Amber is passionate about holistic health and wellbeing and helping others lead a happy and healthy life. Other than running, she enjoys spending time with her young family, catching up with friends for training and coffee, good food, and being creative through music and design.

Personal sporting highlights include:

  • Representing Australia at the Triathlon World Championships in Chicago as an age group athlete in three events, including Aquathlon, Sprint and Standard distance Triathlon
  • Representing Australia at the Duathlon World Championships in Adelaide as an age group athlete, finishing 7th place
  • Representing Australia at the Triathlon World Championships in the Gold Coast as an age group athlete, (standard distance triathlon) where she held a tidy 40min, 10km run off the bike.
  • Holding the Triathlon SA state title in her age group for multiple years running in multiple distances
  • Completing Cairns Ironman
